Philippe makes a comeback with red ball runs as his Shield return approaches

Josh Philippe declares his return to red-ball cricket as he eyes a comeback to Western Australia's Marsh Sheffield Shield team next week. The 25-year-old has been named the Marsh One-Day Cup Player of the Series after finishing as the competition's second-highest run-scorer, behind Daniel Hughes of NSW. Although Philippe had a frustrating season in the other two formats, finding himself out of WA's Sheffield Shield side when reserve Australian wicketkeeper Josh Inglis returned to state duties last November, he is now set for a red-ball recall with Inglis departing for India. Philippe rediscovered his red-ball touch with a stunning 161-run innings for the WA second XI last month and is looking forward to back-to-back Shield titles with WA. While Philippe prefers batting at the top in white-ball formats, he wouldn't be putting his hand up to open in red-ball cricket.
