The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has prepared two pitches for the series finale, one with red soil and the other with black soil, and Smith believes that the Indian players have influenced the decision. Despite being less than 24 hours away from the Test, the Australian team is unsure which pitch they will play on. Smith also mentioned that regardless of the pitch, Australia is expected to deploy a three-man spin attack for the second straight Test. He also expressed his bafflement at the calls for Australia to opt for three pacemen and one spinner, calling the criticism of the team composition "mind-boggling".
